A Resolution appointing Jose Garcia and Robert "Rob" Vaughan to the Aurora Preservation Commission.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this memo is to recommend the appointment of Jose Garcia and Robert "Rob" Vaughan to the Aurora Preservation Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Preservation Commission is an eleven (11) member commission created in 1979 to support the preservation of Aurora's historical, cultural, artistic, social and ethnic heritage. Currently, there are vacancies on the commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the appointments of Jose Garcia and Rob Vaughan to the Aurora Preservation Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, vacancies currently exist on the Aurora Preservation Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be appointed to said commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointments of Jose Garcia, Aurora, IL and Robert "Rob" Vaughan, Aurora, IL as members of the Aurora Preservation Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Jose Garcia and Robert "Rob" Vaughan shall expire March 31, 2017, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
