A Resolution to authorize the City of Aurora to enter into a new Commercial Lease Agreement with Jolene Ryan of 16727 Grace St Lockport IL 60441, d/b/a Jumpin Java Coffee, for commercial Space at 1090 N. Route 59, Aurora, IL 60504 commonly know as Route 59 Commuter Station.
PURPOSE:
Resolution authorizing the City of Aurora to enter into a new Commercial Lease Agreement with Jumpin Java for the use of a commercial space in the Route 59 Commuter Station. The term of the lease would be for two (2) years.
BACKGROUND:
The City originally entered into a lease agreement with Peter Lo Destro back in February of 2017 for the operation of a coffee shop in a Commercial Space at the Route 59 Commuter Station. The lease has since been transferred to Jolene.
DISCUSSION:
Approving the transfer of the commercial lease would allow Ms. Ryan to continue her operation of the coffee shop. Rent terms would remain the same as in the previous approved lease.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The approval of this commercial lease agreement would allow for Ms. Ryan to continue her operation in a space that would otherwise become vacant.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
To approve entering into a new Commercial Lease Agreement with Ms. Ryan for the use of the commercial space at the Route 59 Commuter Station.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Jumpin Java has been operating the coffee shop in the lower level of the commercial space located at the Route 59 Commuter Station; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Ryan plans to continue her operation of the coffee shop in the current space. The monthly rent for this space is $330.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that said Commercial Lease Agreement with Jolene Ryan d/b/a Jumpin Java for the use of the commercial space located in the lower level of the Route 59 Commuter Station is hereby approved.
