SUBJECT:
A Resolution appointing Kathy Duncan as the School District 204 representative and reappointing Pat Divine as the Fox Metro representative to the Aurora Planning Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Planning Commission is a thirteen (13) member commission comprised of At-Large Citizens and representatives of the following entities: Fox Valley Park District, Aurora Township, School Districts 129, 131 and 204 and the Sanitary District.
With the recent resignation of Rose Smilgys, School District 204 is in need of a new representative and the district has nominated Kathy Duncan. Pat Divine's term recently expired and he wishes to continue to serve as the Fox Metro representative.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the appointment of Kathy Duncan and the reappointment of Pat Divine to the Aurora Planning Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the School District 204 position on the Aurora Planning Commission was recently vacated; and
WHEREAS, the Fox Metro representative's term recently expired; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be reappointed to said commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Kathy Duncan as the School District 204 representative and the reappointment of Pat Divine as the Fox Metro representative to the Aurora Planning Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Kathy Duncan and Pat Divine shall expire December 31, 2017, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
