SUBJECT:

A resolution requesting approval for the purchase of police squad car printers, paper and accessories from CDW-G of Vernon Hills in the amount of $81,556.50.

PURPOSE:

To purchase squad car printers to facilitate accident report printing, driver information exchanges, and other miscellaneous printing.

BACKGROUND:

The printers would allow implementation of the Mobile Crash Reporting and Mobile E-Citation programs.  Officers would also be more efficient when completing crash reports and citations.  Some of the County Clerk offices currently use e-citation software and they encourage local police departments to use this software.

DISCUSSION:

This will be purchased using the National IPA Technology Solutions contract (2018011-01). The National IPA aggregates purchasing volume of participating agencies in order to receive larger volume discounts from suppliers. All master agreements are publicly solicited, awarded, and held by a Principal Procurement Agency. National IPA serves as a government cooperative purchasing organization for agencies nationwide and their agreements are made available to eligible agencies including City and Local Governments. Attached is the current breakdown of the printers and the miscellaneous supplies needed for this purchase.

The funding for this purchase is earmarked in the 2018 Police Department's account 101-3536-421.61-23.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Public Safety operations would be impacted and electronic citations wouldn't be implemented.  As a result, the police department would not realize the efficiency benefits associated with purchasing these items.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Recommending a resolution authorizing the approval for the purchase of police squad car printers, paper and accessories from CDW-G of Vernon Hills in the amount of $81,556.50.
