SUBJECT:

Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:

To increase the number of Class F, Beer and Wine Restaurant licenses for the number of Class F licenses to 19.

BACKGROUND:

This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:

McCarty Mills Taproom, Inc., d/b/a McCarty Mills Taproom, to be located at 140 S. River Street, Unit 108, Aurora 60505 has submitted a liquor license application for a Class F license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and/or wine by the drink for consumption on the premises only.  This will be a new build-out on the first level of the 140 S. River Street Building.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the license by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business owners to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

I am recommending that this resolution be forwarded to the Committee of the Whole by the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee for consideration at its meeting to be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
