A Resolution appointing Jim Schweizer, Jill Jenkins and Daniel Miller and reappointing Don Truax and Shanita Anderson.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this memo to recommend the appointments of Jim Schweizer, Jill Jenkins and Daniel Miller and reappointments of Don Truax and Shanita Anderson to the Aurora Preservation Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Preservation Commission is an eleven (11) member commission created in 1979 to support the preservation of Aurora's historical, cultural, artistic, social and ethnic heritage. Currently, there are vacancies and expired terms on the commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the appointments of Jim Schweizer, Jill Jenkins and Daniel Miller and the reappointments of Don Truax and Shanita Anderson to the Aurora Preservation Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, vacancies and expired terms currently exist on the Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be appointed and reappointed to said Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointments of Jim Schweizer, Aurora, IL, Jill Jenkins, Aurora, IL and Daniel Miller, Aurora, IL and reappointments of Don Truax, Aurora, IL and Shanita Anderson, Aurora, IL to the Aurora Preservation Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Jim Schweizer, Jill Jenkins, Dan Miller, Don Truax and Shanita Anderson shall expire March 31, 2017, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
