Resolution approving the purchase of a new Utility truck for Water Production in the amount not to exceed $35,000.00 from Bob Ridings, Inc., Taylorville, Illinois, under the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Contract
PURPOSE:
To replace unit 58-145 which is a 2000 Dodge Utility truck that has met the replacement criteria for this class of vehicle.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Aurora participates in the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts for the purchase of replacement vehicles. This purchasing program bids vehicles for purchase thus we can forego the bidding process.
DISCUSSION:
This request to replace unit 58-145 was approved in the 2014 budget. In account 510-4058-511-6610 there is $46,000 to fund a purchase of a replacement utility truck for the Water Production Division.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchase of a new Utility truck for Water Production will reduce the division's vehicle maintenance costs.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts a resolution authorizing the purchase of new Utility truck for the Water Production Division in the amount not to exceed $35,000.00 from Bob Ridings, Inc., Taylorville, Illinois, under the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Contract.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora participates in the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts; and
WHEREAS, under the said agreement the City of Aurora may purchase vehicles and equipment under the terms established by the program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora desires to replace unit 58-143 assigned to the Water Production Division with a new Utility truck in the amount not to exceed $35,000.00; and
WHEREAS, in account 510-4058-511-6610 there is $46,000.00 budget to fund this purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: authorizes the Director of Purchasing to procure a new Utility truck not to exceed $35,000.00 from Bob Ridings, Inc., Taylorville, Illinois, under the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Contract for the Water Production Division.
