Requesting approval for Aurora Downtown to have a Music Festival as part of their 2018 Stolp Island Block Party Festival event to be held on Stolp Avenue (between Galena & Downer) on Friday, August 3rd, 2018.
PURPOSE:
Aurora Downtown, located at 43 W Galena Blvd., will be holding a Stolp Island Block Party on Friday, August 3rd, 2018. As part of this event, Aurora Downtown would like to have live musical entertainment, which requires City Council approval prior to the issuance of a permit
BACKGROUND:
This event will include four musical groups, food, and games.
DISCUSSION:
Our office has received a complete application for this event. The City Clerk's office is working with Aurora Downtown to endure that all additional documentation required are submitted prior to the Event. An inspection of the site will be conducted prior to the event.
The event will take place between Galena & Downer on Stolp Avenue. The hours of operations for the Festival will be from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the music will be played from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

It is my recommendation that this item be referred to the Government Operations Committee.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Aurora Downtown will be holding a 2018 Stolp Island Block Party Festival event on Friday, August 3rd, 2018 and has applied for a Music Festival permit in conjunction with their event, with music being allowed from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.; and:
WHEREAS, the organizers of this event have filed all appropriate documentation and paid all applicable fees required for the issuance of said permit; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that a Music Festival permit be issued to Aurora Downtown, 43 W Galena Blvd., for Friday, August 3rd, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
