SUBJECT:
Requesting approval for the City of Aurora Aldermen to attend the 2021 IML Conference.
PURPOSE:
To help the Aldermen further their knowledge and better serve their communities.
BACKGROUND:
City of Aurora Aldermen annually attend the IML Conference.
DISCUSSION:
There is a line item in the Aldermen's Office budget to cover these expenses. The IML Conference and hotel stay for the Aldermen will be paid out of account 101-1004-411.42-01.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Aldermen will be able to learn and exchange new ideas as well as build relationships with their municipal colleagues.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be approved.

A Resolution to approve the City of Aurora Aldermen to attend the Annual IML Conference.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora Aldermen annually attend the IML Conference; and
WHEREAS, this will help the Aldermen further their knowledge and better serve their communities, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Aurora Code Section 2-60(b), all Aldermen may attend seminars, conventions, meetings and other events that they feel may further their knowledge and help them in their duties as Aldermen.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: Approval of the City of Aurora Aldermen to attend the Annual IML Conference.
