A Resolution Authorizing the Appointment of Wendy McCambridge as City Clerk.
PURPOSE:
To obtain authorization to appoint Wendy McCambridge as City Clerk.
BACKGROUND:
The City Clerk position became vacant on 2/16/2015. The City Clerk's Office is a division of Administrative Services. The City Clerk is appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council.
DISCUSSION:
Human Resources advertised and recruited from multiple City Clerk and municipal websites. 60 applications were received and 7 applicants including 2 internal candidates were interviewed. After a thorough assessment, careful consideration and her education, skills and experience, Wendy McCambridge was selected for the position.
Wendy has over 15 years of municipal and state government experience. She most recently served as the Associate Director of the Criminal Justice Information Authority. She also worked as the Division Manager for the City of Evanston overseeing Administrative Adjudication and Liquor Licensing.
Wendy has a Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and undergraduate degree in Social Work from Marquette University. Wendy also resides in Aurora. Her complete resume is attached for your reference.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council authorize the appointment by the Mayor of Wendy McCambridge as City Clerk for the City of Aurora with an expected start date of June 22, 2015.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora is in need of a City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have determined that Wendy McCambridge, best meets the qualifications to fill said position;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: Effective upon passage of this resolution, the Mayor is hereby authorized to appoint Wendy McCambridge to the position of City Clerk.
