The most vital cities in the world enable their communities with leading-edge technology that engages, informs, and empowers.  Mayor Irvin's vision for achieving this is built on a commitment to modern infrastructure, smart communities, and technological innovation.

"The City of Lights is becoming the City of Light Speed with a keen focus on technology," said Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin. "It is encouraging to know our local technology initiatives are receiving national recognition. These innovative efforts are positioning Aurora to become a new hub in the industry." (Source: NEWS RELEASE dated Wednesday, January 31, 2018).

DISCUSSION:

The Mayor's Office is in support of this initiative. The City has already been using Crowe Horwath since 2013 for other projects, such as Public Safety Computer Assisted Dispatch/Records Management Systems (CAD/RMS) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Business Process Improvement.  The most recent agreement was in 2016 for a business process review (BPR), organizational change management (OCM) and staffing the project management office (PMO) for the Public Safety CAD/RMS project. Funds will be available pursuant to a budget transfer, moving funds from account 101-1380-419.64-10 to account number 101-1380-419.32-20.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

This process will develop an IT Strategic Plan or “IT Roadmap”, to realize Aurora's potential as a Smart City and the regional leader for smart innovation systems and technologies."

RECOMMENDATIONS:

I request approval to make the aforementioned purchase.
