A Resolution authorizing the appointments of management personnel within the Public Works Department.
DISCUSSION:
The position of Assistant Director of Public Works was created and approved by the City Council in 2018, but never codified. The position of Assistant Superintendent of Streets is new and is part of the amendment set forth in Legistar item 21-0508.
This resolution will authorize both appointments to the Public Works Department. Job descriptions for both positions as well as the notices of appointment are attached.

A Resolution Approving the Appointments of Management Personnel within the Public Works Department.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that the Mayor, shall, with the approval of the City Council, appoint the officers of the City and heads and assistant heads of the departments and divisions of the City; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter of the Code of Ordinances, the Mayor has notified the City Council of the appointment of Jason Bauer as Assistant Director of Public Works (Exhibit A), and has requested the City Council’s approval of said appointment; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter of the Code of Ordinances, the Mayor has notified the City Council of the appointment of Adrian Perez as Assistant Superintendent of Streets (Exhibit B), and has requested the City Council’s approval of said appointment;
WHEREAS, having reviewed the descriptions for each position to be filled by a person nominated by the Mayor, the City Council finds that each appointee possesses the necessary technical training or knowledge of the position to which the appointee has been nominated and otherwise qualified for appointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows that the appointments of the individuals listed in Exhibits A-B of this resolution shall be and hereby are approved.
