Authorization to Accept the Bid from P&M Tree Service, West Chicago, IL., in the Amount of $69,000 for Tree Removal at Various Locations Citywide for the Division of Street Maintenance..
PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval to accept the bid from P&M Tree Service, West Chicago, IL., for tree removal at various locations citywide.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the Emerald Ash Borer, the City has removed thousands of ash trees from the City right of way. The majority of the trees identified for removal by contractor are trees that are near electrical power lines which require additional care and are time consuming for removal. We anticipate the bulk of the ash tree removals to be completed by the end of 2015.
DISCUSSION:
The City advertised and solicited bids for the removal of 100 right of way trees. P&M Tree Service was the lowest responsible bidder. The City has previously contracted tree removal with P&M Tree Service and have found their work to be performed in a professional manner.
Funds for this expenditure are available in account 340-4460-431-7399
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There will be no impact to other City Departments or Divisions.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The City Council accept the bid from P&M Tree Service, West Chicago, IL., in the amount of $69,000 for tree removal at various locations citywide for the Division of Street Maintenance

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City has identified 100 dead right of way trees requiring removal.
WHEREAS, the City advertised and solicited bids for right of way tree removal.
WHEREAS, P&M Tree Service, West Chicago, IL. submitted the lowest responsible bid in the amount of $69,000.00
WHEREAS, funds are available in account 340-4460-431-7399
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: to Accept the Bid from P&M Tree Service, West Chicago, IL., in the Amount of $69,000 for Tree Removal at Various Locations Citywide for the Division of Street Maintenance
