SUBJECT:
A resolution authorizing the Director of Purchasing to execute contracts for the purchase and installation of jumbotrons and supporting equipment at RiverEdge Park in the amount of $584,367.46.
PURPOSE:
To acquire and install jumbotrons as a part of the RiverEdge Park Expansion Project.
BACKGROUND:
Installation of jumbotrons will allow for additional capacity, activating underutilized space at the park..
DISCUSSION:
The city is purchasing these screens directly from Saco, matching the other jumbotrons throughout the park. In addition to the $534,367.46 for the jumbotrons, $50,000 is to be authorized for additional equipment consisting of chain hoists, cabling and installation support services for a total authorized amount of $584,367.46.
Funds are included in account 358-4440-451.73-43 (A062)
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There will be no impacts to the park during the installation, which will be in the spring of 2026.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be adopted.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the jumbotron installation will allow for additional capacity of the park; and
WHEREAS, funds are budgeted in account 358-4440-451.73-43 (A062) in the amount of $534,367.46; and
WHEREAS, Saco has provided the other jumbotrons throughout the park and was selected as the vendor for this purchase to ensure consistency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: the Director of Purchasing is hereby authorized to execute contracts for the purchase and installation of jumbotrons and supporting equipment at RiverEdge Park in the amount of $584,367.46.
