A Resolution authorizing the appointment of management personnel within the Finance Department.
DISCUSSION:
The position of Chief Financial Officer/City Treasurer will be vacated by the retirement of the current CFO/Treasurer. This resolution will authorize the appointment of the new CFO/City Treasurer. The job description, resume and notice of appointment are attached.

A Resolution Approving the Appointment of the Chief Financial Officer/City Treasurer.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that the Mayor, shall, with the approval of the City Council, appoint the officers of the City and heads and assistant heads of the departments and divisions of the City; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter of the Code of Ordinances, the Mayor has notified the City Council of the appointment of Christopher Minick as the Chief Financial Officer/City Treasurer Assistant (Exhibit A), and has requested the City Council’s approval of said appointment;
WHEREAS, having reviewed the description for the position to be filled by a person nominated by the Mayor, the City Council finds that the appointee possesses the necessary technical training or knowledge of the position to which the appointee has been nominated and otherwise qualified for appointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows that the appointment of the individual listed in Exhibit A of this resolution shall be and hereby are approved.
