SUBJECT:

A Resolution Authorizing Payment to Northwestern Medicine for Providing Occupational Health Services.

PURPOSE:

To obtain approval for payment to Northwestern Medicine for occupational health services through 2017.

BACKGROUND:

For over fifteen years, Provena Mercy served as the City's Occupational Health Services provider.  Services included pre-employment physicals. Contractual annual exams, statutory drug testing, workers compensation primary and follow-up treatment and other required medical services.  When Provena discontinued providing occupational health services and instead sold the business to Physicians Immediate Care (PIC), the City was forced to utilize another provider.

DISCUSSION:

After careful consideration and assessment of several occupational health services facilities, the City determined that Northwestern Medicine was the best facility to meet the size and scope of the City's operational needs.  Northwestern Medicine's new state of the art facility is in a central geographical location of Aurora and offers urgent care and extended after hours services.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

RECOMMENDATIONS:

That the City Council approves the resolution authorizing the payment to Northwestern Medicine for providing occupational health services through 2017.
