SUBJECT:
An Ordinance Amending the Ward 8 Budget for the Fiscal Year 2025.
PURPOSE:
To obtain the City Council’s approval of a proposed amendment to the 2025 Ward 8 budget.
BACKGROUND:
Historically, the 8th Ward has lacked a community meeting place for HOAs and other organizations. With these renovations, we will be able to fill that gap and create a community meeting space.
DISCUSSION:
The budget amendment will be made from Ward 8 fund balance. The $300,000 will be placed into account 318-1350-419.50-50, which is a grant and donation account. The check will be made out directly to the library.

That the City Council adopt the proposed ordinance that would effect the 2025 Ward 8 Budget.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Ordinance No. O99-96 on November 9, 1999 adopting the budget system of finance for the City in lieu of the appropriation system in accordance with 65 ILCS 5/8-2-9.1 et. seq. and Code Section 2-312(a); and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Ordinance No. O24-079 on December 3, 2024 adopting an annual budget for the City of Aurora for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2025
WHEREAS, adequate monies are available in the Ward 8 fund balance to pay said expenditures
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: An Ordinance Amending the Ward 8 Budget for the Fiscal Year 2025 by adding $300,000 into account number 318-1350-419.50-50 is hereby approved. The funding will be taken from prior unspent Ward 8 funding allocations.
