A resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc., 52 Wheeler Road, Sugar Grove, IL. 60554 to provide construction engineering services for the 2014 Storm Sewer Extension Project.
PURPOSE:
To enter into an agreement with Engineering Enterprises for the above referenced project..
BACKGROUND:
The extension of storm sewers on Fourth Street, Marion Avenue, and Maple Avenue is part of the City's overall plan to de-combine the storm and sanitary sewers within the City..
DISCUSSION:
On June 24, 2014, the City awarded a contract (R14-167) to Brandt Builders for the installation of storm sewers on Fourth Street, Marion Avenue, and Maple Avenue. Engineering Enterprises will be providing construction engineering services and ensure the completion of the work is in compliance with the construction plans and specifications. Engineering Enterprises, Inc. has proposed to provide full time construction engineering services in an amount not to exceed $42,906.96. The 2014 budget provides funding for this work in B037 account #280-1852-512.81-23 (Stormwater Management Fee Fund).
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This work will help reduce or eliminate future sewer backups within residential basements in this area..
RECOMMENDATIONS:
We respectfully request this item be forwarded to the BGI Committee for their review and recommendation for approval."

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, (it is necessary and desirable to provide on-site construction engineering services for the installation of storm sewers; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for a Construction Engineering Agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. to provide On-Site Engineering Services for the project in an amount not to exceed $42,906.96, a copy of the agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the 2014 City budget has funding for the project in B037 account # 280-1852-512.81-23 (Stormwater Management Fee Fund).)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: The Mayor and City Clerk be and are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. of 52 Wheeler Road, Sugar Grove, IL. 60554 for Construction Engineering Services on the 2014 Storm Sewer Extension Project as per the attached proposal contained herein Exhibit "A"
