A Resolution authorizing the reappointment of Ricky Rodgers, Dr. Brian Knetl, Beth Christoffel, Dr. Even Glazer, Lindsay Cochrane, Dr. Collette House, Rosaisela Sida-Nanez, Dr. Andalib Khelghati, Thomas Kim, Darrin Johnson, Colette Rozanski and the appointment of Dr. Brenda Barnwell, Tamara McClain and Dr. John Price to the to the Aurora Education Commission.

BACKGROUND:
We have eleven reappointments that will be appointed for a 3-year term and 3 new appointments with staggered terms.
DISCUSSION:
The nominations brought forth today represent eleven veterans and three new candidates.
Ricky Rodgers - African American Men of Unity - will expire in 2030
Dr. Brian Knetl - Waubonsee Community College will expire in 2030
Beth Christoffel - Community Foundation of Fox River Valley will expire in 2030
Dr. Even Glazer- Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy- will expire in 2030
Lindsay Cochrane - Dunham Foundation- will expire in 2030
Dr. Collette House- Aurora Christian School - will expire in 2030
Rosaisela Sida-Nanez - United Way/SPARK - will expire in 2030
Dr. Andalib Khelghati - Oswego SD 308 - will expire in 2030
Thomas Kim - Batavia SD 101- will expire in 2030
Darrin Johnson - Family Focus- will expire in 2030
Colette Rozanski - RC Wegman- will expire in 2030

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that the Mayor, shall, with the approval of the City Council, appoint the members of the advisory boards and commissions of the City; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances, the Mayor has notified the City Council of the reappointment of the individuals listed in Exhibit A through N of this resolution to the advisory board or commission and to the terms therein enumerated, and has requested the City Council’s approval of said appointments; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the appointees set forth in Exhibit A through N of this resolution possess the necessary qualifications to serve in the position to which they have been nominated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that the reappointment of the individuals listed in Exhibit A through N of this Resolution shall be and hereby are approved.
