A Resolution appointing Rafael Blanco, Marc Straits, Curtis Spivey and Michael Mancuso and reappointing Jane Regnier and Julie Gervais to the Aurora Public Art Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Public Art Commission (APAC) is a nine (9) member board tasked with overseeing the David L. Pierce Art & History Center and the Grand Army of the Republic.
The APAC is required to have a blend of educators and local representatives of the business community in addition to artists.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the appointment of Rafael Blanco, Marc Straits, Curtis Spivey and Michael Mancuso and reappoint Jane Regnier and Julie Gervais to the Aurora Public Art Commission

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the commission is in need of new members; and
WHEREAS, the commission has expired terms in need of reappointment; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidates be appointed and reappointed to the commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Rafael Blanco, Aurora, IL, Marc Straits, Aurora, IL, Curtis Spivey, Aurora, IL, and Michael Mancuso, Oswego, IL, and the reappointment of Jane Regnier, Aurora, IL and Julie Gervais, Aurora, IL to the Aurora Public Arts Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Curtis Spivey shall expire on November 30, 2021, the terms of Jane Regnier, Rafael Blanco, Michael Mancuso and Julie Gervais shall expire on November 30, 2022, and the term of Marc Straits Shall expire on November 30, 2023, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
