A Resolution approving a Preservation Grant to Kristoffer Schroeder for the property located at 211 Center Avenue, Aurora, Illinois. (Kristoffer Schroeder - AU27/2-14.090-AG/GR - TM/-- - Ward 4)
PURPOSE:
The petitioner, Kristoffer Schroeder, is requesting a Preservation Grant for stucco repair and roof replacement located at 211 Center Avenue..
BACKGROUND:
The Preservation Grant Application was submitted by the homeowner to the Planning & Zoning Division on March 3, 2014

DISCUSSION:
Development Proposal: The proposal consists of a total tear off and re-roof of both the house and associated detached garage. Additionally the existing gutters and downspouts will be removed and new gutters and down spouts will be installed. Also, the existing damaged stucco will be repaired and the entire house painted. The exterior wood trim will also be restored and painted.
Evaluation: Staff has reviewed the Preservation Grant application and believes that this grant will help the owners complete the project. This project will be a major improvement to not only the subject property but to the district it is located in. Because of the location of the building, the improvements will be highly visible to the public.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Planning and Zoning Division would anticipate that this project will increase the City's overall tax base and viability which will offset any incidental Department or staffing impacts.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Preservation Commission recommended APPROVAL of the resolution approving a preservation grant to Kristoffer Schroeder for the property located at 211 Center Avenue, Aurora, Illinois.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, on March 31, 2014 , Kristoffer Schroeder filed with the City of Aurora a request to enter into a Preservation Grant for certain property within the City of Aurora and the Near Eastside Historic District; and
WHEREAS, for reasons set forth in the Preservation Grant Agreement, attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A", the City and Kristoffer Schroeder wish to enter into said attached Agreement for restoration work at 211 Center Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Budget contains sufficient funds in the amount of $15,000.00 for this item in Account #215-1840-463.50-43 in order to provide all the necessary funding for the project; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that the Mayor and City Clerk be and are hereby authorized to execute the attached Agreement.
