Resolution authorizing the 2020 Ward Neighborhood Cleanup Program for Ward 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 and Shred events in Wards 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 in the City of Aurora to be recommended to the Rules, Administration and Procedures Committee at the February 18, 2020 meeting.
PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval for the 2020 Ward Neighborhood Cleanups and Shred Events.
BACKGROUND:
Annually, Ward Aldermen and their ward committees decide if and when neighborhood cleanups and/or shred events will be held. Decisions are also based on available funds for the current year.
DISCUSSION:
The neighborhood cleanup days proposed in 2020 are in Wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. Wards 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 will be holding shred events. Groot and Accurate Document Destruction will be contacted to provide disposal services. The costs is determined by the amount of debris hauled away.
The following garbage accounts will be used (311), (312), (313), (314), (315), (316), (317), (318), (319), and (320)-1827-424.36-10.

Approve and forward the recommendation to the Committee of the Whole for further review and consideration.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, On an annual basis, Ward Aldermen and their ward committees decide, if and when neighborhood cleanups or shred events will be held and these costs are included in the 2020 budget, and
WHEREAS, the neighborhood cleanup days in 2020 will be in Wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 and Wards 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are anticipating shred events, and
WHEREAS, various vendors will be contacted to provide disposal services. These costs are determined by the amount of debris hauled away, and
WHEREAS, fund are allocated in Ward budget accounts (311), (312), (313), (314), (315), (316), (317), (318), (319), and (320)-1827-424.36-10.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: Approve the Resolution authorizing the implementation of the 2020 Ward Neighborhood Cleanups and Shred Event Programs in the City of Aurora and hereby does further authorize the Purchasing Director to issue the necessary orders.
