A resolution appointing Roberto Saenz to the Aquatics Administrative Board.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this memo is to recommend the appointment of Roberto Saenz to the Aquatics Administrative Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Fox Valley Park District and the City of Aurora established a five-member volunteer board to oversee the Aquatic Center. Two of the members are appointed by the Fox Valley Park District and two members by the City of Aurora, with an At-Large member appointed on a rotating basis by either the city or the park district.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the appointment of Roberto Saenz to the Aquatics Administrative Board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora is in need of a new appointee to the Aquatics Administrative Board; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidate be appointed to said board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Roberto Saenz, Aurora, IL to the Aquatics Administrative Board.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Roberto Saenz shall expire on October 1, 2018, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
