Resolution to approve an intergovernmental agreement with Waubonsee Community College for the City of Aurora's Youth Services Subdivision.
PURPOSE:
The City of Aurora's Youth Services has provided quality programs for youth, including the Aurora Youth Council, summer camps, and more. The agreement with Waubonsee will assist the Youth Services subdivision and our community partners to continue with the planning process to be able to provide youth programs throughout the year. This agreement can we renewed every year.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed agreement allows the Youth Services subdivision and our community partners, to provide which can include a meeting space for the Aurora Youth Council, an art camp, and much more. The locations of these programs will be determined in collaboration with Waubonsee Community College and their staff.
DISCUSSION:
This agreement is beneficial for the City of Aurora's Youth Services subdivision and ensures quality programs can continue to be provided to students throughout Aurora.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
These agreements will have a direct and positive impact on our youth and their families as this will assist in continuing quality programming.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be approved.

A Resolution to approve an intergovernmental agreement with Waubonsee Community College for the City of Aurora's Youth Services Subdivision.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has provided youth programming for all youth; and
WHERAS, the Youth Services subdivision and its community partners have done a great job of coordinating the Aurora Youth Council, summer camps, and other youth programs, ensuring meaningful experiences for our youth and stakeholders; and
WHERAS, the City's Community Service Division and Youth Services desire a similar level of services to be provided in 2023 and beyond; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that the intergovernmental agreement with Waubonsee Community College for the City of Aurora's Youth Services Subdivision is hereby accepted and that Mayor Irvin be authorized to sign and execute the necessary documents related to this agreement.
