SUBJECT:

Recommendation to purchase 3 new heavy duty trucks from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts for the W & S Maintenance Division in the amount not to exceed $525,000.00.

 

PURPOSE:

To replace three trucks that have met the replacement criteria in their respective vehicle class.

 

BACKGROUND:

The City of Aurora can purchase new trucks from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services ("IDCMS") Master Contracts. IDCMS solicit bids for new vehicles from various truck dealers thus the City can forego duplicating the bidding process.

 

DISCUSSION:

I am requesting the authority to purchase 3 replacement trucks in the amount not to exceed $525,000.00 that have been approved in the 2016 City of Aurora budget account number 510-4063-511-7510.

 

 

IMPACT STATEMENT:

The purchase of 3 new heavy duty trucks will reduce the maintenance and repair costs for the W & S Maintenance Division and improve the reliability of the fleet

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the purchase of 3 new heavy duty trucks in the amount not to exceed $525,000.00 from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts for the W & S Maintenance Division.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

 

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

 

WHEREAS, The City of Aurora participates in the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts; and

 

WHEREAS, this purchasing program solicit bids for new vehicles from various truck dealers thus the City can forego duplicating the bidding process; and

 

WHEREAS, the purchase of 3 new trucks will reduce the maintenance and repair costs for the W & S Maintenance Division and improve the reliability of the fleet; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2016 City budget has the funds available in account 510-4063-511-7510 to purchase these trucks

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: That the City Council adopts a resolution authorizing the purchase of 3 new trucks in the amount not to exceed $525,000.00 from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts for the W & S Maintenance Division.
