PURPOSE:

The Food Truck Festival is an enhancement of First Friday's.  This event is geared to bring all ages and families downtown to support local businesses and enjoy a fun vibrant evening in downtown Aurora.

BACKGROUND:

This is the third year for this event which expects to draw 2,000+ and utilizes over 30 volunteers.

DISCUSSION:

The event will once again take place on Benton, between Water Street and River Street.

Organizers are responsible for informing all businesses and residences within a block radius of the impending street closure at least one week prior to the event.   Placing and removing all "No Parking" signage on Benton.   Signage must be removed before 8:00 am Saturday, May 5.

Aurora Downtown is responsible for placing garbage containers, collection of garbage during and after the event, seeing that all trash is placed in a dumpster at the end of the evening and the area is clean before the start of business Saturday morning.

All food trucks are to comply with all Kane County and City of Aurora requirements.  Approximately 14 to 16 food trucks are expected to participate.

Aurora Downtown has received a Neighborhood Festival Funding Grant to cover some of the expenses which includes a COI from the City of Aurora.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

City services requested:

Street Department: barricade package to close Benton from Water to River to be dropped before noon for a 2:00 pm street closure.  Benton to be swept before and after the event.

Electrical: access to all available power along the event site.

APD: Assistance with traffic control at Stolp and Downer just prior to the start of the Paramount show 6:45-8:00 pm.  Additional security on site as deemed necessary by APD.

Revenue & Collections: Assuring all vendors are properly permitted, licensed, bonded and insured.

Fire Prevention:  Assuring all vendors are compliant with safety requirements.

Special Events: Logistical assistance as necessary.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
