SUBJECT:
A Resolution appointing Chief Gary Krienitz to the Aurora Electrical Commission.
BACKGROUND:
The Electrical Commission was established in order to comply with State and local ordinances stating "each municipality which establishes such an electrical inspection department shall also establish an electrical commission, consisting of six members" (65 ILCS 5/Art. 11 Div. 37).
The appointment of Chief Krienitz will fulfill the one vacancy that currently exists on the commission.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended this appointment be approved.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire Chief Gary Krienitz be appointed to the Aurora Electrical Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Chief Gary Krienitz, Plainfield, IL as a member of the Aurora Electrical Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Chief Gary Krienitz shall expire on December 31, 2018, however, in any event, he shall continue to serve until his respective replacement has been approved by the Council.
