A resolution to award a contract to H. Linden & Sons Water and Sewer, Inc. of 722 E. South St., Unit D, Plano, IL 60545 for the Watson Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project in the amount of forty three thousand, nine hundred forty five dollars ($43,945.00) - Ward 3.
PURPOSE:
This sanitary sewer was recently evaluated and found to require replacement of a deteriorated section of pipe.
BACKGROUND:
The Watson Street sanitary sewer was televised and evaluated in advance of a future street resurfacing project. Replacement of 120 feet of sewer was determined to be time critical in order to avoid failure.
DISCUSSION:
H. Linden & Sons Water and Sewer, Inc. of Plano, IL 60545 provided the lowest responsible bid out of six (6) bidders for the Watson Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached as exhibit A.
Project IB018 account 510-4063-511-73-14 has sufficient funds for this project.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There will be no disruption of service to the upstream residences during the duration of the repairs. The roadway will experience traffic disruptions while the repairs are completed. Watson Street will be closed to through traffic during construction of the sewer replacement.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends the proposed resolution be adopted.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, inspections of the sanitary sewer on Watson Street determined a need for replacement of a section of the sewer; and
WHEREAS, H. Linden & Sons Water and Sewer, Inc. of Plano, IL 60545 provided the lowest responsible bid out of six (6) bidders for the Watson Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, A copy of the bid tabulation is attached as exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, Project IB018 account 510-4063-511-73-14 has sufficient funds for this project; and)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that a Contract with H. Linden & Sons Water and Sewer, Inc. of 722 E. South St., Unit D, Plano, IL 60545 for the Watson Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project in the amount of forty three thousand, nine hundred forty five dollars ($43,945.00) for the construction of the Watson Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project is hereby authorized, and the Purchasing Director is further authorized to enter into such contract on behalf of the City.
