A Resolution Authorizing the Appointment of David McCabe as Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Aurora, IL Fire Department.
PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval for the appointment of David McCabe to the position of Assistant Fire Chief for the Aurora Fire Department.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the retirement of Donald Davids, a vacancy exists for the position of Assistant Fire Chief.
DISCUSSION:
David McCabe has over twenty-one (21) years of progressive experience within the Fire Department. He has demonstrated competency and dedication in the numerous roles he has functioned in. He currently is serving as Battalion Chief where his performance continues to be exemplary.]

That the recommendation for appointment of David McCabe for the position of Assistant Fire Chief be forwarded to the City Council for approval.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, a vacancy exists for a Assistant Fire Chief due to the retirement of Donald Davids from the position:
WHEREAS, and the Mayor finds and determines that David McCabe meets and exceeds all of the necessary qualifications and requisite skills and experience to perform the job requirements of the position; and
WHEREAS, after giving due regard and consideration, the Mayor recommends that David McCabe be appointed the next Assistant Fire Chief of the Aurora Fire Department for the City of Aurora, Illinois.)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that David McCabe is hereby appointed Assistant Fire Chief for the Aurora Fire Department.
