A Resolution reappointing two members Nina Arme Rosa and Aaron Lechuga for a three-year term and appointing six new members Curtis Wilson, Robert De Maria, Francis Lopez, Ashley Dingle, Ginaly Rocha and Elizabeth Rupp to the Music, Events and Entertainment Commission (MEE).
DISCUSSION:
The Music, Events and Entertainment (MEE) Commission was created to support and amplify live performers in the City of Aurora. This group will work to identify performers, locations and create a calendar for all city events to support and promote citywide performances.
This eleven (11) member advisory board will be housed under the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs (MOCA) and staffed by a member of that department.
Candidates for a one-year term are:
• Curtis Wilson, Ward 5
• Francis Lopez, Non-resident
• Ginaly Rocha, Non-resident
Candidates for a two-year term are:
• Robert De Maria, Non-resident
• Ashley Dingle, Ward 2
• Elizabeth Rupp, Ward 4
Candidates for a three-year term are:
• Nina Arem Rosa, Non-resident
• Aaron Lechuga, Ward 4
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the reappointments of the two veteran members and appointments of six new members to the MEE Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Music, Events and Entertainment Commission (MEE) shall consist of a total of eleven (11) board members; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidates be appointed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, approve the reappointments of the two members and appointments of six new members to the MEE Commission.
NOW BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in any event members shall continue to serve until reappointed or their respective replacement has been approved by the Council.
