SUBJECT:
A resolution to authorize the Director of Purchasing and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. to perform Construction Engineering Services on the Redwood Drive Water Main Replacement Project.
PURPOSE:
To enter into an agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. for the above referenced project.
BACKGROUND:
The existing water main on Redwood Drive is deteriorated and has experienced numerous breaks over the past few years. The City is in the process of awarding a contract to replace the deteriorated main to Gerardi Sewer and Water, Inc.
DISCUSSION:
Engineering Enterprises, Inc. is proposing to provide on-site construction engineering services in an amount not to exceed $35,069.00. The 2015 Budget provides funding for this work in IC076 account #510-4058-511.73-02.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
These improvements will reduce the frequency of water main breaks in this area. This will result in lower annual maintenance costs and less interruptions to water service for the citizens serviced by this main.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward this request to the Building, Grounds, and Infrastructure Committee for their review and approval.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to provide on-site construction engineering services for the installation of the new water main; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for a Construction Engineering Agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. to provide On-Site Construction Engineering Services for the Redwood Drive Water Main Replacement Project in an amount not to exceed $35,069.00 in accordance with the agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, funds have been provided for this work in the 2015 Budget in IC076, account #510-4058-511.73-02; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: The Director of Purchasing and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. of 52 Wheeler Road, Sugar Grove, IL. 60554 to provide on-site construction engineering services for the Redwood Drive Water Main Replacement Project per the attached agreement contained herein as Exhibit "A"
