Resolution Authorizing the 2017 Ward Neighborhood Cleanup Program For Wards 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10 and Wards 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 Shred Events for the City of Aurora to be recommended to the Finance Committee at the February 14, 2017 meeting.
PURPOSE:
To obtain the City Council's approval for the 2017 Ward Neighborhood Cleanups and Shred Event Programs.
DISCUSSION:
The Neighborhood Cleanup days are scheduled to continue in 2017 in Wards, 1, 3, 5,7 9 and 10 and the Shred Events will be scheduled in Wards 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The dates to be determined and mailings will be sent to the constituents of each prospect ward.
Various vendors will be contacted to provide disposal services and the costs will be determined based on the amount of debris hauled away.
Funds for these projects will be allocated from each individual ward budget as follows: Ward budgets (311), (313), (315), (317), (319) and (320) - 1727-424.36-10. Ward funds are being transferred for each individual account.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward this Resolution to the Finance Committee at the February 14, 2017, meeting for further review and consideration.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Wards 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10 are planning "Neighborhood Clean Days" for their respective wards, and:
WHEREAS, Wards 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are planning a "Shredding Event" for their respective wards, and
WHEREAS, these events constitute the 2017 Ward Neighborhood Cleanup and Shred Event Programs, beginning in April 2017 through October 2017; and
WHEREAS, various vendors will be contacted to provide disposal services for the Cleanup Program and Shred Events, and
WHEREAS, costs are determined by the amount of debris hauled away, and
WHEREAS, funds for the 2017 Ward Neighborhood Cleanups and Shred Event Programs will be allocated from each individual ward budget as follows: (311), (313), (314), (315), (316), (317), (318) (319) and (320) - 1727-424.36-10. Ward funds are being transferred for each individual account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: Hereby authorized the implementation of the 2017 Ward Neighborhood Cleanups and Shred Event Programs for the City of Aurora and does hereby further authorize the Procurement Director to issue the necessary orders for the same.
