FROM:                     Joseph Hopp, Superintendent of Maintenance Services

DATE:                     March 22, 2018

SUBJECT:

Resolution to accept the low bid from Advantage Chevrolet for two cargo vans in the amount of $49,635.00 for the Central Services and Police Patrol Divisions.

PURPOSE:

The Central Services and Police Patrol Divisions operate cargo vans.  Both divisions have been approved in the 2018 budget replacement vans that meet the replacement criteria for the respected class of vehicles

BACKGROUND:

The City solicited bids from six area GMC and Chevrolet dealers but only Advantage Chevrolet submitted a bid.  Advantage, located at 9510 Joliet Road in Hodgkins, Illinois submitted a bid of $23,319 for the Central Services 2500 van and $26,316 for the Police 3500 van for a total of $49,635.00.

Advantage did make an $875 deduction in the price for the Police van due to an error in their bid.  Since the 4.8L engine is no longer available Advantage's original bid included the optional 6.0L engine when in fact Aurora wanted the standard equipment 4.3L engine.

DISCUSSION:

The purchase of these Chevrolet vans will assure that the both the Central Services and Police Patrol Divisions have a reliable fleet.

Budget transfers will be submitted to fund accounts 215-4010-417.66-20 for $26,000 the purchase of a cargo van for Central Services and account 255-3536-421.66-20 for $32,000 to fund the purchase of a cargo van for the Police Patrol Division.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

There is no impact on other divisions or City services.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

That City Council approves a resolution to accept the low bid from Advantage Chevrolet for two cargo vans in the amount of $49,635.00 for the Central Services and Police Patrol Divisions.
