Resolution Accepting the Bid from Beary Landscape Management, Lockport, IL for the Facilities and Grounds Landscape Maintenance for Various City Divisions for 2015 and 2016
PURPOSE:
To contract the landscape maintenance for right of ways, medians, and various city-owned city buildings.
BACKGROUND:
The City's landscape maintenance contract for right of ways, medians, and city-owned buildings expired in 2014. This is the third of four landscape maintenance bid packages to be advertised for public bid in 2015. So far the overall pricing for landscape maintenance services is approximately 25% less than the City's previous contracted costs.
DISCUSSION:
The City has landscape responsibility of various right of ways, medians, and buildings city-wide. Beary Landscape Management submitted the lowest responsible bid at a total annual cost of $26,000.00 I contacted several of their listed references and all indicated they were satisfied with their work and quickly addressed any issues or concerns brought to their attention. I recommend that the City accept their bid for a 2 year contract with 2 one year mutually agreeable extensions.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council accept the bid from Beary Landscape Management, Lockport, IL for the Facilities and Grounds Landscape Maintenance for Various City Divisions for 2015 and 2016.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, bids were received for Facilities and Grounds Maintenance services for various city divisions for 2015 and 2016; and
WHEREAS, Beary Landscape Management submitted the lowest most responsible bid in the total amount of $26,000.00 per year; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in 2015 budget account numbers 101-1745-440.38-34, 101-1716-417.36-15, 530-4433-437.36-15, 530-4434-437.36-15, 101-4440-451.36-15, 251-4460-431.36-15, )
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: hereby accept the bid from Beary Landscape Management, Lockport, IL for the Facilities and Grounds Landscape Maintenance for Various City Divisions for 2015 and 2016 and does hereby further authorize its Purchasing Director to issue the necessary orders to implement same.
