Resolution Accepting the Bid from Classic Landscape, Ltd., West Chicago, IL for the Central Area Landscape Maintenance for Various City Divisions for 2015 and 2016
PURPOSE:
To contract the landscape maintenance of right of ways, medians, tot lots, and city-owned vacant lots. l
BACKGROUND:
The City's landscape maintenance contract for the above-mentioned areas expired in 2014. This is the fourth of four landscape maintenance bid packages to be advertised for public bid in 2015. The overall pricing for landscape maintenance services is approximately 20% less than the City's previous contracted costs.
DISCUSSION:
The City has landscape maintenance responsibility of various right of ways, medians, tot lots, and city-owned vacant lots. Classic Landscape Ltd., submitted the lowest responsible bid at $2,990 per landscape mowing cycle. Classic Landscape Ltd., previously held a city-wide landscape maintenance contract for the east side and performed satisfactorily. I recommend the City accept their bid for a 2 year contract with 2 one year mutually agreeable extensions.
Dollars have been appropriated for this expenditure in accounts 101-4460-431-36.15; 101-1727-424-36.14; 510-4058-511-38.34; and 101-4440-451-36.15
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There should be no impact on other departments.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council accept the bid from Classic Landscape Ltd. West Chicago, IL for the Central Area Landscape Maintenance for various city divisions for 2015 and 2016.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, bids were received for the Central Area Landscape Maintenance services for 2015 and 2016; and
WHEREAS, Classic Landscape Ltd., submitted the lowest most responsible bid at $2,990.00 per landscape mowing cycle; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in budget account numbers 101-4460-431-36.15; 101-1727-424-36.14; 510-4058-511-38.34; 101-4440-451-36.15; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: hereby accept the bid from Classic Landscape Ltd., West Chicago, IL for the Central Area Landscape Maintenance for Various City Divisions for 2015 and 2016 and does hereby further authorize its Purchasing Director to issue the necessary orders to implement the same.
