PURPOSE:
The homeowners, Daniel and Tara Chavez, are requesting a Preservation Grant for tuck pointing and the reconstruction of the front porch located at 727 Oak Avenue in the .
BACKGROUND:
This section should state the origin or source of the request (the need, history of issues, bid/RFP dates, process followed to evaluate potential options, etc) and other information that may be relevant for the Committee and Council to understand the purpose of the request.
DISCUSSION:
Proposal: The proposal consists of tuck pointing and the reconstruction of the front porch.
Evaluation: Staff has reviewed the Preservation Grant Application and believes that this grant will the owners complete the project. The proposed reconstruction of the front porch and tuckpointing of the property will greatly enhance overall appearance of the structure and the Riddle Highlands Historic District.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This grant will help improve the overall neighborhood appearance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Preservation Commission recommended APPROVAL of the Preservation Grant at 727 Oak Avenue by Daniel and Tara Chavez

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, on March 31, 2014 , Daniel and Tara Chavez filed with the City of Aurora a request to enter into a Preservation Grant for certain property within the City of Aurora and the Riddle Highlands Historic District; and
WHEREAS, for reasons set forth in the Preservation Grant Agreement, attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A", the City and Daniel and Tara Chavez wish to enter into said attached Agreement for restoration work at 727 Oak Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Budget contains sufficient funds in the amount of $5,000.00 for this item in Account #215-1840-463.50-43 in order to provide all the necessary funding for the project; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, finds as facts all of the preamble recitals of this Resolution and hereby that the Mayor and City Clerk be and are hereby authorized to execute the attached Agreement.
