A resolution reappointing Leticia Morales-Perez and Ramona Wood to the Aurora Civil Service Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Civil Service Commission is a five (5) member commission tasked with carrying out the purposes of Chapter 13.5 of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances. Specifically, the commission is in charge of the general direction and supervision of the classified civil service system in the city, including examinations, appointments and removals.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the reappointment to Aurora's Civil Service Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Aurora Civil Service Commission has two expired terms; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidates be reappointed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the reappointment of Leticia Morales-Perez, Aurora, IL and the reappointment of Ramona Wood, Aurora, IL to Aurora's Civil Service Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Leticia Morales-Perez and Ramona Wood shall expire June 30, 2020, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
