Request to Approve an Increase to the 2016 Open Order for Aurora Area Spring to $35,000.00
PURPOSE:
To increase funds allocated to Aurora Area Spring 380 NE Industrial Dr. Aurora, IL in account 120-4431-418.3801 from $24,319.43 to $35,000.00 to ensure successful fleet operations for the remainder of 2016.
BACKGROUND:
Aurora Area Spring specializes in medium to heavy duty truck suspension/steering maintenance and has supported City of Aurora fleet operations for many years. Their services are contracted for repairs that exceed our internal capabilities.
DISCUSSION:
Properly maintained suspension and steering systems are integral to safe and effective vehicle operation. Aurora Area Spring can efficiently provide the required vehicle services which will allow City staff to safely provide uninterrupted services to residents. 2016 heavy duty suspension and steering repairs will surpass $25,000.00, but are projected to remain below $35,000.00. The vendor has no outstanding debt with the City and the necessary funds are available in account 120-4431-418.38-01; no budget transfer is required.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There is no impact to others.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the Aurora City Council approve the request to continue utilizing Aurora Area Spring through 2016 by increasing the open purchase order to $35,000.00.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Aurora Area Spring 380 NE Industrial Dr. Aurora, IL specializes in medium to heavy duty truck suspension/steering maintenance and has supported City of Aurora fleet operations for many years, and
WHEREAS, 2016 heavy duty suspension and steering repairs will surpass $25,000.00, but are projected to remain below $35,000.00, and
WHEREAS, The funds are available in account 120-4431-418.38-01)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: That the Aurora City Council approve this request to continue utilizing Aurora Area Spring through 2016 by increasing the open purchase order to $35,000.00
