Requesting approval for City of Lights Ukulele Society to have a Music Festival during their City of Lights Ukulele Festival Event on Sunday, August 26, 2018 to be held on Water Street and Downer Place.
PURPOSE:
City of Lights Ukulele Society will be holding their Ukulele Festival Event on Sunday, August, 26, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. As part of this festival, City of Lights Ukulele Society would like to have live musical entertainment, which requires City Council's approval prior to the issuance of a permit.
BACKGROUND:
This will be their first event here in the City of Aurora. Expected attendance is estimated at around 750 +.
DISCUSSION:
City of Lights Ukulele Society has been working with the City Clerk's Office to ensure that all required documentation are met prior to the event. City of Lights Ukulele Society has submitted the Music Permit Application, Security form, Insurance, Crowd management Certificates, Diagrams and an Assembly Operational Permit form. An inspection of the site will be conducted prior to the event.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, City of Lights Ukulele Society will be holding their City of Lights Ukulele Festival Event on Sunday, August 26, 2018 and has applied for a Music Festival permit in conjunction with their Festival, with music being allowed from 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the organizers of this event have filed all appropriate documentations and paid all applicable fees required for the issuance of said permit, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 8-200, it is the desire of the City Council to approve the issuance of a music festival permit for the above mentioned event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: that a Music Festival permit be issued to City of Lights Ukulele Society for the Ukulele Festival to be held at Water Street and Downer Place on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
