A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a lease agreement with Fox Valley United Way to provide space at 13 So. Broadway Ave., Aurora, IL 60505.
PURPOSE:
The City of Aurora has an opportunity to assist the Fox Valley United Way by providing space so it can collect, organize, and distribute holiday toys to families and children in need in the Aurora area
BACKGROUND:
For several years, The City of Aurora has allowed Fox Valley United Way to use space at 13. So. Broadway for collecting and distributing toys. This year, Fox Valley United Way would like to make some small improvements to the space to enhance the experience of volunteers and families while using the space through Home Depot grand funds.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed resolution to execute a lease agreement with Fox Valley United Way and the City of Auror. For and in consideration of being recognized as a sponsor, the City shall provide access to the property at 13 S. Broadway, as part of its sponsorship of this annual joint project. No additional rent is to be charged for the use of the property located at 13 S. Broadway.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The access to this space allows United Way of Fox Valley to impact more families due to the large amounts of in-kind toy donations they receive for families in the area. No negative impact will be incurred.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
"I request approval of the resolution to enter into the aforementioned lease with Fox Valley United Way at 13 So. Broadway Aurora, IL 60505.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, The City of Aurora owns the property at 13 So. Broadway Ave., Aurora, IL 60506; and:
WHEREAS, Fox Valley United Way nonprofit provides free toys to families in need during the holiday season; and
WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has chosen to be a partner and Sponsor of this activity. The City of Auora and Fox Valley United Way wish to enter a lease agreement for space at 13 So. Broadway Ave. Aurora, IL 60505, which is attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: the Mayor or his designee are hereby authorized to sign Exhibit A, the Lease Agreement with Fox Valley United Way and any related documents, on behalf of the City of Aurora.
