Resolution Accepting the Bid from Fire Service Inc , St John, Indiana in the Amount of $195,246.00 for the Purchase of One 2013 Ford F450 Type I Ambulance.

PURPOSE:
To purchase one (1) 2013 Ford F450 Wheeled Coach Type I ambulance, from Fire Service Inc. to replace an ambulance that has reached its service life as recommended by Equipment Services.
BACKGROUND:
The Aurora Fire Department routinely replaces ambulances based on the recommendation of the Equipment Services Division.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Fire Department wishes to replace Medic RM 10 which is a 2002 ambulance that has exceeded its service life as recommended by Equipment Services.
Fire Service Inc. is the area dealer for the Wheeled Coach brand ambulance. In reviewing the bids from both Fire Service Inc., and North Central Emergency Vehicles I noted that Fire Service Inc. had taken 5 "exceptions" to our bid and North Central had 17 "exceptions. After reviewing the exceptions from both companies, my concern is North Central has an exception to item 2.1.4 that covers ISO 9001 certification and is an item that we (AFD) had listed as "No Exception". Based on taking an exception on an item we had specified as "No Exceptions" We consider their submission to be "No Bid"

· The vendor has no outstanding debt with the City.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchase of a new ambulance will provide the citizens of Aurora with dependable and safe transportation when utilizing the services of the Aurora Fire Department.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the finance Committee accept the bid from Fire Service Inc. to purchase a 2013 Wheeled Coach Type I AD ambulance from them in the amount of $ 195.246.00.
