FROM:                     Alderwoman Patty Smith, Ward 8

DATE:                     March 10, 2026

SUBJECT:

Amendment to the Ward 8 Residential Grant Program

BACKGROUND:

Alderwoman Patty Smith established the 8th Ward Residential Grant Program in 2021 to assist with community enhancements and improvements.

DISCUSSION:

The current grant program limits individual awards at $15,000. Due to limited participation at the current funding level, Alderwoman Smith would like to increase the maximum grant amount to $25,000.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

Increasing the maximum grant award from $15,000 to $25,000 is expected to improve participation and allow applicants to pursue projects that may require a higher level of funding.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Request approval of the Ward 8 Residential Grant Program Amendment.
