Resolution approving a change order for the Highland and Sullivan Roundabout with Geneva Construction for $34,204.99
PURPOSE:
To obtain approval of a change order for the Highland and Sullivan Roundabout with Geneva Construction for $34,204.99
BACKGROUND:
In fall of 2016 the City approved a contract with Geneva Construction in the amount of $527,218.68 for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Highland Drive and Sullivan Road.
DISCUSSION:
During the course of construction, a significant amount of contaminated soils were found in the Sullivan Road right of way. The discovery of the contaminated soil necessitated removal, special disposal, and additional backfill. The final amount due given the additional work was $561,423.67. The total amount of this additional work required a change order of $34,204.99. The following funds will be utilized:

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, The City of Aurora required improvements to the intersection of Highland Avenue and Sullivan Road. And
WHEREAS, the approved improvements required a change order
WHEREAS, the FY 2016 Budget proves funding by way of the following account:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: approves a change order for the Highland and Sullivan Roundabout with Geneva Construction for $34,204.99.
