A resolution to reject the single bid received for the 2016 Water & Sewer Division Emergency Repair Program.
PURPOSE:
To reject the one bid received for the 2016 Water & Sewer Division Emergency Repair Program.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Water & Sewer Division occasionally utilizes private contractors to make repairs to the City's underground utilities when they do not have the equipment or resources to perform the repair in house. This bid was intended to be used as a tool to evaluate the bid prices submitted in order to create a ranking to be used to contact contractors when the need arose. Although the bid received had comparable prices to the previous year, more than one contractor is needed due to the unpredictable nature of the system's repairs. It is recommended to formally reject the bid at this time.
DISCUSSION:
Staff recommends the rejection of the one bid received as part of the 2016 Water & Sewer Division Emergency Repair Program. The rejection of this bid will allow additional action at a later date.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There will be no impacts to the public or any other City Departments.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be adopted.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, The City advertised a Request for Bids for to reject the single bid received for the 2016 Water & Sewer Division Emergency Repair Program, and
WHEREAS, one bid was received, and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends the rejection of the one bid received as a part of the request for bids.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: to reject the single bid received for the 2016 Water & Sewer Division Emergency Repair Program.
