Resolution to Award a Contract to H. Linden & Sons Sewer & Water, Inc. for the 2015 Storm Sewer Extensions Project - Fourth Street, Ashland Avenue to Simms Street.
PURPOSE:
To award the above referenced project.
BACKGROUND:
The installation of this storm sewer is part of the City's overall plan to de-combine the storm and sanitary sewers within this area of the City.
DISCUSSION:
On February 8, 2015 eleven (11) bids were received and publicly read aloud. The low bid was submitted by H. Linden & Sons in the amount of two hundred eighty thousand nine hundred twenty nine dollars and no cents ($280,929.00). The 2015 CIP has budged funds for this work within project B037 account #280-1852-81-23 (Stormwater Management Fee Fund).
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The installation of this storm sewer will help to reduce or eliminate future sewer backups within residential basements, street flooding and untreated overflows into the Fox River. The new sewer will help to reduce future maintenance costs associated with damage to private properties due to sewage backups.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
We respectfully request this resolution be forwarded on to the BGI Committee for their review and recommendation for approval.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, eleven (11) bids were received, publicly opened and read aloud on February 8, 2015 for the 2015 Storm Sewer Extensions Project - Fourth Street, Ashland Avenue to Simms Street, and
WHEREAS, H. Linden & Sons Water & Sewer, Inc. of 722 E. South Street, Unit D, Plano, IL 60545 was the low bidder having bid two hundred eight thousand nine hundred twenty nine dollars and no cents ($280,929.00), bid tabulation is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A", and
WHEREAS, funding has been provided in project B037 account #280-1852-512-81-23 (Stormwater Management Fee Fund), and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: the Director of Purchasing be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with H. Linden & Sons Sewer & Water, Inc. of 722 E. South Street, Unit D, Plano, IL 60545 for the 2015 Storm Sewer Extensions Project - Fourth Street, Ashland Avenue to Simms Street, as per the bid tabulation contained herein as Exhibit "A".
