SUBJECT: title

body
PURPOSE:
This purchase would replace administrative (non-ruggedized) laptops in use by a limited number of administrative staff, Police Lieutenants, Commanders, and the Chief. The current laptops are inadequate to run new police-related applications effectively including the Windows 7 operating system.

BACKGROUND:
Much of the hardware currently utilized by command level personnel is now four years old and insufficient to handle the respective applications required by Police administrative staff. The existing laptops will be redeployed for other purposes and/or their parts used in other devices to extend their functional life.

DISCUSSION:
It is intended that these devices will be purchased using the National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance Company (National IPA). National IPA aggregates purchasing volume of participating agencies in order to receive larger volume discounts from suppliers. All master agreements are publicly solicited, awarded, and held by a Principal Procurement Agency. National IPA serves as a government cooperative purchasing organization for agencies nationwide and their agreements are made available to eligible agencies including City and Local Governments.

Sufficient funds are available for this purchase in the 2013 budget in account 101-1233-419.64-12 (General Fund).

IMPACT STATEMENT:
It is not anticipated that the approval of this professional service contract will have an impact to other City Departments.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Recommend the City purchasing HP Revolve Laptops from CDW-G in the amount of $27,330.66 for the Aurora Police Department.
